Free surgical camp

A successful 2 days surgical eye Camp was held in Sitalpati, Salyan on 20 & 21 June 2014 by Muna Foundation Nepal with technical assistance of Rapti Eye Hospital. Sitalpati, Salyan is about 15 hours travel by bus from Kathmandu. The main aim of this camp was to treat people of this district who are not normally reached within health system of Nepal.

The camp was held under the leadership of Dr. Shankar Khanal and his team consisting of 11 medical personal and 10 volunteers.Surgical eye camp related message was broadcasted via Local FM radio. Pamphlets were also distributed through students, School teachers, health personnel and community volunteers and leaders.

A total of 339 patients were evaluated for various ocular problems. These patientsarrived from 9 nearby VDCs most of whom belong to underprivileged community. Among them 59 cataract patients were identified and underwent cataract surgery. As a part of funding for this camp, patients care included ocular examination, free cataract surgery, provision of free medicine and spectacle distribution.
