Earthquake relief program phase I

Sindhupalchowk district one of the most affected districts of earthquake. The earthquake has destroyed most of the infrastructures and more than 3000 people died in this district alone.

On 5th May, Muna Foundation Nepal organized a relief program to help the people of SimpalKavre VDC, one of the remote areas inSindhupalchowk. MFN team of 20 volunteers was equipped with the food items, (rice, cereals, beaten rice, noodles, biscuits etc.) health and sanitation materials and mattress for 100 households. When the MFN team reached there, the villagers were waiting for us. Traumatized by the regular aftershocks and no roof to live in, their grief was portrayed in their faces.

We then counselled the villagers about the probable epidemics after the quake due to the lack of dead corpses of animals and lack of proper garbage disposal system. The villagers accepted our help and notified us that what they really need now is zinc sheets so that they can make a temporary home on their own which will make them comfortable in the upcoming monsoon.
