On May 22, 2015, Muna foundation organized second earthquake relief program targeted to help the people of Banskharka VDC in rural part of Sindhupalchowk. The villages in Banskharka were completely damaged due to the earthquake and almost all the people were displaced from their original shelter. Almost 20 volunteers were mobilized to carry out the relief program. Food itemsand sanitary items were transported from Kathmandu via a seasonal road (this road is not usable in the monsoon).
After 6 hours' drive in dusty road from Kathmandu volunteers reached the uppermost part of Banskharka. Due to the remoteness of the area other humanitarian agencies were not found to be helping the people there. The terrain and the road in the area are not friendly to the people of urban areas. Food items like rice, oil etc. and sanitary items like soaps were distributed among the victims.
Sindhupalchowk district one of the most affected districts of earthquake. The earthquake has destroyed most of the infrastructures and more than 3000 people died in this district alone.
